Divison 3 national champion and Nicklaus Award Winner - Chandler Blanchet
Laura Jansone won the LPGA Kingsmill qualifier and finished T3rd in France with closing rounds of 64-69
Zach Portemont and Chandler Blanchet each finished 2nd at US Open local qualifying 
Cameron Fish and Kaide Farne finished first and third at the Rocky Bayou Junior
Gracie Grant three time winner on US Kids Golf Tour

Recently Rob Strano shot some instruction videos from all over Europe. These clips were part of a Thanksgiving feature on Golf Channel Academy called "Where in the World is Rob?"

Academy Welcomes New
Staff Member Suzi Stanley

Suzi Stanley recently joined the academy as a staff instructor in charge of fitness training and women's and junior clinics. She is a TPI Level 1 certified trainer and is one of the top all around women athletes to come out of the state of Alabama in the past 10 years. Suzi won the state high school golf championship in 2005 and played at Mississippi State University before turning professional and qualifying to play the Symetra Tour. Contact the academy about clinics with Suzi or book a private training session with her for fitness or your golf game.



Arnold HS and Niceville HS Have Impressive Finishes at State
The postseason just ended in Florida and two of the girls teams with academy players had great seasons. The Arnold team comprised of SGA players Grace Johnson, Anna Morros and Kiki Polanin made a great run through October. What is impressive is those three have a combined 6 years of competitive golf experience! The Niceville girls Madi Messmore and Meg Horrigan came close to a state championship finishing in the runner up slot. Both teams are in good shape for 2016 and with hard work will be right back at state next year. Way to "Leave Your Mark" ladies.



Wounded Warriors Have Great Day at the Strano Golf Academy
18 Warriors from across the southeast attended a day long clinic at the academy. Some came from as far as Savannah to be here and have a great day of camaraderie and golf. Thank you to everyone that came and for your service to the US!

Annual Wounded Warrior Golf Day at the Strano Golf Academy

Every year around Veteran's Day Rob Strano and his wife Naomi host the Wounded Warriors from across the south for a day of golf instruction and lunch at the academy in Destin, Florida. This year participants came from as far away as Valdosta and Tallahassee to get some tips on how to improve their games. There were even 3 beginners in the group who got first hand instruction on how to start off in the game the right way! It was a beautiful sunny fall day in the panhandle and the group of warriors were America's best of the best. Proud to know them and to have hosted them this year.

Academy Senior Madison Pacheco Finishes 2nd in Florida State Girls HS Championships

Firing a final round 68 Madison Pacheco closed strong to finish runner up in the Florida Girls High School Championship in Orlando. Pacheco, who grabbed onto her Aimpoint Express training, rode a "HOT" putter to a round of 4 under par 68 to go with a first round 76. "I was aiming for better than last year," Pacheco said. "I'm so proud of the way I played because, even after my 76 yesterday, I knew I had to go with a really low number today. 68 was actually my number."Today I was just draining every putt. That's what made the difference." The Strano Golf Academy is very proud of her finish and the hard work she put in to go low on the last day. Way to come through in the clutch.

Rob was recently in Orlando shooting a series of videos using the Flightscope and BodiTrak technology he uses on the range for every lesson. The video series has him sharing stories from the 15 years he played on tour and instruction he gave other players that helped them with their games. Strano Selected to Join Prestigious Flightscope Advisory Board

Academy Director Rob Strano recently was selected to join the Flightscope advisory board and serve with some of the top instructors in the country including Golf Channel host of the Golf Fix Michael Breed. Rob will consult on improvements in the the launch monitor technololgy and test all products under development and be on the cutting edge in the discussion of the latest in golf swing analysis.

Academy High School Seniors Rogers, Corchis, and Poate are Players of the Year in Panhandle

Jason Rogers of Rocky Bayou Christian, Nathan Corchis of South Walton HS and Antonia Poate of Niceville High were recently named Panhandle Players of the Year for 2013. Rogers, a recent commit to Gardner Webb University dominated the local golf scene with only 2 over par rounds this season. Corchis is a commit to Southern Mississippi and qualified to play in the state tournament. Poate, who finished 9th at the state tournament, was also a force with several runner up finishes in high school tournaments before capping her senior year with a top 10 at state. She has several D1 offers to select from and should be announcing her decision soon. These players were also selected to play for the victorious West team in the Panhandle Cup. Poate gives the Strano Golf Academy the distinction of having the last 4 girls POY in the panhandle.

Niceville HS Senior Antonia Poate completed her season with a T-9th at the state tournament at Mission Inn Resort. Battling through a cold and not feeling well she was still able to post a two day total of 156 to land her spot in the top 10. Look for her big news soon on where she will commit to play collegiate golf!

The Raven Golf Course at SanDestin Resort will be the site of the showdown this year between the best HS players in the panhandle. With 12 players on each team the Strano Golf Academy was thrilled to find out that almost half of the West team will come from our stable of athletes. Making the team were:

Academy Hosts TaylorMade Private Event


The Strano Golf Academy was excited to host an invitation only event for Taylor Made that showcased the launch of the new clubs for 2014. The day included all the Flightscope launch monitor testing for players as well as food and drinks to make the event a first class fitting experience and fun time for all the players that attended.

 

Juniors Roll Into Summer

Schedule With Huge Wins

The first major tournament in the Florida Panhandle concluded with Strano Academy juniors claiming top honors in a decisive way. Florida Panhandle Players of the Year and academy stars Davis Bowyer and Kayla Bloor dominated the field at the Rocky Bayou Junior. Bowyer led the boys with scores of 68-89 for a seven under par total and an 8 shot margin of victory. More impressive was Florida State commit Kayla Bloor putting together back-to-back rounds of 72-68 to win the girls overall title by 15 shots. Other top finishers were Cameron Page 3rd place and Blake Rigdon 2nd place. Alexis Hazard of Pensacola finished 3rd and Kaide Farne of Destin shot rounds of 82-81 to finish 2nd in the 12-14 age group. In the final round there were 4 under par rounds and they were all by Strano Academy players. Aside from the great rounds by Bowyer and Bloor, Andrew Smith closed with 70 and Jason Rogers matched him with a two under par 70 of his own.

 

Academy Players Sign to Play College Golf

Pensacola Catholic standout Alexis Hazard recently put ink to paper and signed to attend Loyola of New Orleans and be a part of the women's golf team. Hazard a member of the victorious Panhandle Cup team was excited to finally make her official committment. The next day Boys Panhandle Player of the Year Davis Bowyer of Fort Walton Beach High School signed with Montevallo University in Alabama. Bowyer will bring a red hot golf game to the team. Thus far in 2013 Bowyer has won 6 out of 8 tournaments. Emily Cunningham from Georgia was the last to sign and join the Forida players by signing with Alderson Broaddus College. Congratulations to these academy players for their hard work that earned them a trip to the next level to play for their schools.



Strano Golf Academy Becomes Most High Tech Facility in Florida Panhandle

With the recent addition of the Flightscope Launch Monitor the academy now boasts the regions most technologically advanced training program available for players coming to improve their games. The SGA now offers the #1 company when it comes to tracking what your golf swing does and how the ball reacts to your swing with Flightscope. Here are some screen shots showing the data the player gets with each swing of the club:

 

Additionally the player gets data information from Swingbyte and from the JC Video system that leaves no doubts as to the key things the player needs to work on to improve their swing and control the golf ball.

Academy Director Rob Strano Selected Honorable Mention Top 50 Youth Instructors in the Nation for Third Consecutive Year

The US Kids Golf Foundation has announced their annual list of top youth golf instructors in the United States and for the third year running Rob Strano was selected as an Honorable Mention top teacher.

Academy High School Players Lead West Team to Win Over East in Panhandle Cup

Strano Academy players Davis Bowyer, Andrew Smith, Kayla Bloor and Antonia Poate proudly represented the West team and when it came to crunch time, they came through with singles victories that secured the cup for another year! Bowyer sealed the win dramatically. Facing the #1 player for the East team and 2 holes up with 3 to play, David closed out his oppenent on the par 3 16th hole with a 5 iron that stuck 4 feet from the hole. Way to go to all the academy kids, we are proud of how you competed.
